VARSITY HEAD COACH

JORDAN GATES

Jordan Gates starts his 5th season coaching hockey for the Mounds View High School programs. After coaching the Girls Hockey team for 2 seasons, he transitioned to the Boys Hockey program and is now in his 3rd season. Jordan grew up playing hockey in Bloomington.  He has 14 + years of hockey skill development working at ETrain. He also coaches the District 6 U14 girls team. 



VARSITY HEAD COACH

DARRELL SCHULTE


Darrell Schulte starts his first season as varsity head coach with the Mounds View High School boys' hockey team in 2022-23 after joining the Mustangs as a varsity assistant last season. He enters his 23rd year as a hockey coach and 6th overall at the high school level.

 

He is a graduate of Mounds View High School in 1990 and played high school hockey for the Mustangs.

 

Schulte graduated from St. John's University in 1994 as a four-time men's hockey letter winner. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Government.

 

He coached youth hockey for 16 years in both the North Branch Area Hockey Association and the Mounds View Irondale Youth Hockey Association. Schulte is currently a USA Hockey Level 5 certified coach. He previously was an assistant and head coach for North Branch Area High School during a four-season stretch from 2005 through 2009. Schulte has coached teams in AAA hockey, Minnesota Selects, the Bantam Elite League, and the CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance program.

 

He lives in North Oaks with his wife, Aleta, and three sons, Zack, Nick and Sam.

JACOB LeVASSEUR

Jacob “Frenchy” LeVasseur grew up playing hockey in Woodbury, MN and has been coaching for over 10 years in the Blaine, Mounds View and Centennial youth programs. He also was the head JV coach and assistant Varsity at North Branch and Northern Edge high school program. He currently serves as the District 2 Hockey Director as well as coaches the D2 Loons tier 1 programs.
